Dork Diaries: Tales from a Not-So-Dorky Drama Queen is the 9th book in the Dork Diaries series. It was released on June 2, 2015.

Summary

Nikki is worried about a rumor that Brandon only kissed her in exchange for free pizza. When she one day sees Brandon leaving Queasy Cheesy, she is worried that the rumor might be true. Brandon and Nikki get in a fight and they both start to avoid each other.

Meanwhile, MacKenzie is forced to clean the school showers because she hit Nikki in the head with a dodgeball (which knocked her unconscious). When Nikki and MacKenzie are in class, Nikki tries to take a bug out of MacKenzie's hair. When she realizes a bug is in her hair, MacKenzie freaks out and eventually pukes. Someone in the class recorded the incident and started showing everyone at school. Soon everyone sees it.

Eventually, MacKenzie steals Nikki's diary and starts to write in it for a few weeks. MacKenzie shares how she thinks Nikki is the one who put the bug in her hair and filmed it. She also accuses Nikki of purposefully getting her into trouble and sabotaging her birthday party. MacKenzie loses all her popularity and is betrayed by her best friend, Jessica. She found out by the Miss Know-it-all column that said Jessica wanted to ditch MacKenzie.

She also got another letter from Brandon, asking her what he should do about the fight he had with Nikki. He got an answer back saying that he should take her to Cupcakery and that he should be honest with her, of course this was all a part of the plan she used to sabotage their friendship

MacKenzie sabotages Nikki and Brandon's relationship and starts to write harmful insults and/or bad advice in the Miss Know-it-all column to get Nikki expelled. However, Nikki finds out what MacKenzie has been plotting and puts in to an end.

The letter Brandon sent to 'Miss know-it-all' aka MacKenzie

Dear Miss Know-it-all

I have a good friend, and she's smart, funny and kind

But lately we haven't been getting along and it's all MY fault. Between a nasty rumor at school and me not telling much about my personal life, she doesn't trust me. And I don't blame her one bit. Whenever I try to talk to her in class, she seems down and kind of distracted, like something is really bothering her. I'm starting to worry about her, and I really miss our friendship.

What can I do to fix things?

-Massively Cruddy Friend

Chloe avoids Nikki and Zoey thinking that Nikki hated people with braces, due to a fake Miss-Know-it-all letter created by MacKenzie. It is revealed that Chloe gets braces. After it is revealed, Nikki, Chloe, and Zoey realize that MacKenzie has made lots of fake Miss-Know-it-all letters, and stops the letters from auto- publishing in the school newspaper before it is too late.

Nikki and Brandon make up and start being friends again. Out of embarrassment from her new classmates who always make fun of her, MacKenzie transfers to North Hampton Hills International Academy. It is hinted at the end of the book that MacKenzie has future plans of getting revenge on Nikki. MacKenzie probably left due to the fact that she was betrayed and embarrassed by all of the CCPs.

  • The letter Brandon sent to Nikki

Hi Nikki,

It's Brandon. Before you ball up this note and toss it away, please read it to the end.

I'm still not sure what happened exactly, but I've been really bummed since we quit hanging out. Biology isn't the same without us goofing off during class and you laughing at my lame jokes. I miss washing dogs with you, even though we end up getting more dog shampoo on ourselves than on them. And the dogs miss you too!

Was it because of that...um, well, what we did at the kissing booth, at the end of the party? And the rumor that came out afterward? I'm sorry I made you feel bad. I definitely wish I hadn't done anything to mess up our friendship.

You said something about how you don't even know me. So what if we meet at the CupCakery after school today and grab some red velvet cupcakes- my treat! I'll tell you anything you want to know about me (and not worry that you'll think I'm weird) I've learned that honesty and trust are vital in a true friendship.

If you decide NOT to hang out today, I totally understand. I guess that will mean I don't really deserve your friendship. But it would me happy if you please give me another chance.

Your Fuzzy Friend,

Brandon
