In Book 4, Fuzzy Friends was on the brink of shutting down. This was because co-owner, Phil Smith, has fallen off a ladder and broken his leg. If it had shut down, it would have meant that Brandon and his grandparents would have to move to Florida, possibly meaning Nikki would never seen him again. When Nikki needed a sponsor for the Ice Skating show, she was in luck. She signs up Fuzzy Friends to be the skating group's charity. Thankfully, Nikki was able to raise $10,000 to keep the shelter alive and Brandon in Westchester by entering in the Charity on Ice where Nikki and her friends Chloe and Zoey act as clowns on account of their costume being stolen or rather yet misplaced. Mackenzie ended up locking Chloe, Zoey, and Nikki in a storage locker but they managed to talk to Brianna and coax her to inform Brandon of their mishap on Zoey's nearly dead cell phone. He was able to get them out on time for the program.

In Book 10, 8 dogs were left by the door, but they couldn't keep them because they reached maximum animal capacity, so Nikki, Chloe, Zoey, and Brandon decided to keep the dogs at their house for a day.

In Book 14, MacKenzie tried to close Fuzzy Friends by making a deal with Nikki.
